Why E+Selen?
E+Selen contains a combination of vitamin E and selenium, which, among other things, is needed to protect the muscles. Vitamin E and selenium are two of the most important antioxidants for the horse's muscles. E+Selen also contains lysine and methionine, which are essential for building and repairing muscle tissue.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant in the body and is important for e.g. the musculature, the nervous system, fertility and the immune system. Lack of vitamin E can lead to muscle damage, similar to those the horse can get with selenium deficiency.
Muscles that are exerted hard run an increased risk of suffering from oxidative stress, something that damages the muscle cells. Vitamin E helps protect the body and muscles against oxidative stress.
Selenium
Selenium is a mineral that works together with vitamin E and is important for muscle cells. Selenium is part of enzymes that protect cells against oxidative stress. Lack of selenium manifests itself in the early stages as reduced coat quality, but many people only notice it when it affects the horse's muscles. Lack of selenium can cause muscle inflammation or weak, wasting muscles.
When is E+Selen recommended?
Vitamin E is a common supplement for horses that train and compete regularly. E+Selen is recommended when the horse suffers from a lack of vitamin E or selenium. Follow the dosage instructions or according to the veterinarian's recommendations.
